Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken in advance of a proposed extension to the existing store. The site was in an area of known archaeological potential. Previous work had identified extensive survival of archaeological remains, dating from the Neolithic through to the medieval period. The area covered by the extension was 0.5ha. The excavation revealed two possible Iron Age post holes, and a number of natural silt filled features, possibly Neolithic tree-throw pits; the southern part of the site was disturbed by large modern quarry pits.
