Abstract: |
Evaluation of a site proposed for redevelopment revealed that only a narrow strip (12.5m wide by a maximum 50m long) contained surviving medieval archaeology. Much truncation of the topsoil and subsoil had occurred due to construction work and quarrying. The area affected by quarrying was shown to be more extensive than that indicated on the maps studied. It was considered possible that the medieval features revealed were the last remnants of once more extensive occupation. [Au(adp)] |
