Abstract: |
Archaeological observation and recording was undertaken during the excavation of geotechnical test pits. No pre post-medieval/modern archaeological features or finds were observed. Up to 2.5m of made ground was present across the site, sealing a sequence of alluvial clays, peat and a further deposit of alluvial clay. Some truncation of the upper clay and peat deposits was apparent. The test pits were not deep enough to locate natural ballast deposits below the blue clay and peat layers, though a sand deposit lay at the limit of excavation in test pit 5. [Au(abr)] |
