Abstract: |
Wheal Vor mine had been included in a list of sites for consideration under the English Heritage Monuments Protection Programme (Non-Ferrous Metals) for national protection on the grounds of its historical and archaeological importance. The clearance of vegetation around Pearce's Shaft allowed an initial evaluation of the features associated with it. Unfortunately large amounts of mining spoil had obscured evidence for any early features, which suggested that a number of archaeological features may have been preserved under the spoil. The probable location of the engine house was identified along with a raised area of ground which seemed to link two areas of the mining complex. [Au(adp) |
