Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation of the interior of the barn was undertaken. The site lay within the East Hertfordshire District Council Area of Archaeological Significance No. 3 which broadly defined the historic core of the medieval village. The Great Barn was a Grade II Listed Building and dated from the late 15th or early 16th century. The evaluation revealed that the interior was substantially disturbed during the insertion of grain processing facilities, which removed any previous surfaces relating to the use of the barn.
