Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment was undertaken for the site of a proposed biomass power plant , situated in a low-lying field close to the headwaters of the river Tresillian. Evidence for prehistoric activity in the area around the proposal site stretched from the late Mesolithic to the Iron Age/Romano-British period, and indicated potential for the survival of sub-surface prehistoric remains to survive within the proposal site. The water-logged environment within parts of the proposal site also indicated potential for the preservation of peat deposits containing prehistoric pollens. The general pattern of settlements and fields visible today was shown to be medieval in origin, and probable post-medieval mining remains comprising a dump or mound were identified within the proposed development area.
