Abstract: |
Following the identification of a small enclosure and rectangular building, and a possible aquaduct in aerial photographs, a fieldwalking programme was conducted. However, no finds were recovered. A section was excavated across the V shaped enclosure ditch, and large quanities of Yorkshire greyware and other pottery fragments, including Samian ware, were recovered. Environmental samples were also collected. Excavation was also carried out within the rectangular feature, revealing a red sandstone surface, a posthole and light wall foundations, possibly indicative of a timber framed structure. Further Yorkshire greyware fragments were found.[Au(adp)] |
