Abstract: |
A watching brief during the excavation of test pits revealed a foundation layer of masonry, external floor layers, and coal deposits from a coal yard and cellars from a ketchup factory. These were sealed by demolition deposits which in turn were cut through by the foundation trench for a sheet pile wall constructed during the mid 1950's to prevent erosion of the river bank. Dumping refue deposits occured on the site after this date. [Au(abr)] |
