Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken as it was proposed to convert 5/6 Southside / 25 The Parade into an art gallery and repository. The buildings in question were all post-medieval in construction but stood within the core of the medieval city, at the centre of the Sutton Harbour complex. This area underwent numerous phases of reclamation, and quayside and building construction from the mid-13th century onwards. Further archaeological investigation ahead of development was recommended due to the high possibility of medieval remains surviving. [Au(abr)] |
