Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in response to a condition upon planning permission for the construction of a new sports and education centre. 11 trial trenches were excavated. Only one archaeological feature was found. This consisted of a small, roughly circular pit packed with moderate to large sized burnt flint fragments and nodules. The fill also produced a struck flake and one sherd of calcined flint-gritted, finger impressed pottery of possible Bronze Age date. A piece of probable slag was also recovered. The worked flint was broadly dated to the Bronze Age. [Au(adp)] |
