Abstract: |
The present evaluation indicated that there were no post-medieval graves extending beyond the walled area of the old military cemetery. The investigations did, however, reveal four archaeological features. A pit was encountered containing the remains of a Bronze Age cremation urn, which subsequently was an isolated feature and not part of a wider flat cemetery or barrow site. Two ditches and gullies were also located which ran on a similar axis and quite possibly formed part of more extensive ditched fiels systems. The limited dating evidence suggested that both features were of a prehistoric date.[Au(abr)] |
