Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out immediately to the east of the northern flood arches of Coleshill Bridge, a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Warwickshire no. 29), where a flood alleviation scheme was proposed. The earliest part of the present structure appeared to date from the late 15th-mid 16th century. During the evaluation, an undated post hole containing a decayed timber post was revealed. This was sealed by thin alluvial layers and modern build-up. It was concluded that ground disturbances associated with the proposed works should be archaeologically observed. [AIP] |
