Abstract: |
The evaluation to the rear of the Raven Hotel, Droitwich, was undertaken on behalf of the owners, Impney Hotels Ltd, in advance of further building works. The hotel contains elements of a 16th century structure and is possibly of earlier foundation. Heavily truncated medieval deposits were encountered in the excavated area, but auger samples suggest that well preserved stratigraphy survives elsewhere on site. The small quantity of pottery recovered from discrete contexts dates from the 12th to 14th centuries. The environmental remains were well preserved and a potential exists for anaerobically preserved deposits.[AIP] |
