Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out during the construction of a new stairwell forming part of a programme of works to convert an existing warehouse into flats. During the work no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed, despite the proximity of known archaeology in the area and the site falling within the core of a medieval town. It is possible that during the construction of the Warehouse that ground levels may have been reduced at some stage, removing any archaeological deposits. However the very limited nature of the groundworks at the site leaved interpretation open, a much larger area would need to be investigated to verify this. [Au(adp)] |
