Abstract: |
Twenty-four trenches were excavated, twenty-two trenches, 30m x 2m, and a further two trenches, twenty-three and twenty-four, 8.3 m x 2m and 16m x 2m respectively. A single prehistoric, possibly Iron Age, ditch was visible in the south-east of the development area, as well as the remains of an early Saxon cemetery. This consisted of the badly truncated remains of up to eleven cremation burials and a probable inhumation burial, tenatively identified as female due to the presence of a fine bead necklace. Several ditches and pits of probable early Saxon date were also located . [Au(adp)] |
