Abstract:
Today the coal yard comprises a large open space, bounded by a retaining wall on its north side. Ore floors are now very rare in the UK, and the yard here was comparable to a similar one nearby, now used as a car park. If carefully designed to retain historic fabric so far as possible, it was thought that the redevelopment need not to have an adverse impact on the character of the site. [Au(abr)]
