Abstract: |
A detailed geophysical survey was undertaken over a 0.72ha area, in advance of a proposed development. Evidence of a buried iron pipe was identified along the eastern limit of the survey area. Intense magnetic fields from this utility and iron pipes in the adjoining glass house may have masked more subtle magnetic anomalies of archaeological or geotechnical interest in these regions (about 15% of the total area examined). The results of the survey provided tentative evidence for a number of ditches of archaeological interest which may have included two ditched trackways which appeared to continue beyond the area examined. Further weak geophysical anomalies and a textural feature may also have been of archaeological or geotechnical significance. [Au(adp)] |
