Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken of a tin smelter site in advance of derelict land reclemation work. A survey of the site, undertaken at a scale of 1:250, recorded three chimneys, the end wall of a large reservoir pond, the ruins of a Brunton calciner and its rear yard, and a small but complex area of brick platforms and walls. Drawing of an exposed section through part of the site revealed several floors and walls belonging to the 1920's phase of the site. Excavation of five investigatory trenches confirmed the presence of complex and well-preserved remains throughout the lower (western) part of the site. [Au(abr)] |
