Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was carried out during the re-positioning of St Frideswalde's shrine to its original approximate medieval location in the Latin Chapel. The work revealed that the shrine had been rebuilt at least once, with replacement stones incorporated into the original structure. The shrine had previously been moved to the Lady Chapel in 1889, where it overlay a grave slab dating to 1632. Excavatons through the cathedral floor for the shrine's new site revealed layers of concret and mortar. [Au(abr)] |
