Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken following the site inclusion in a Land Reclamation Scheme of safety works. The area included three engine houses and their boiler houses, three shafts, an adit, and large spoil dumps. Other mining structures included a copper crusher house, tin stamps, and dressing floors, jig houses, water wheel pits and reservoirs, magazines, a miner's dry, smithy, count house, and tramways. Of special note was the arsenic processing and refining works. These included two calciners, a shaft kiln, various refining buildings and c.350 metres of arsenic flues and five labyrinths.
