Abstract: |
The watching brief located well preserved peat deposits (including timber fragments at depths varying between -1.03m (on the east side of the beach) to -1.71m (at the western end of the trench). It appeared that though these deposits may have been scoured away by the stream that crossed the beach from the area north of its course. No evidence was recovered to link the submerged forest with the known Mesolithic flint working site from flints recovered from the eroding cliff face behind the beach.[Au] |
