Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundwork for a residential development. The watching brief produced nothing of archaeological significance. The lack of artefact evidence and man-made features appeared to have been total, other than that of wartime damage, but the evidence from the previous project in the area showed that it should not have been regarded as typical. The lack of features of archaeological significance may have been due to the great amount of disturbance that had taken place due to the construction of buildings related to the airfield and air raids of the period. It was highly likely, however, that other areas in the vicinity may well have shown evidence of occupation and use. [Au(adp)] |
