Abstract:
Though the area of the new horse arena terrace falls close to two important archaeological sites, one medieval and the other of post-medieval date, most of the remains encountered area of relatively recent date. The initial date of the pond could not be established due to the process of cleaning the pond during its active life, thus the removing of any primary fills and datable evidence. The clinker path/roadway encountered, aligned across the site, was possibly of nineteenth century date and was probably created to transport domestic rubbish. The circular ring feature may have been of a early post-medieval date. [Au(adp)]
