Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a residential development at a site which lay close to an Iron Age hillfort. Two undated ditches and a further feature of a similar nature had been recorded at an adjacent site. During the watching brief, at least twelve undatable ditches were recorded, all of which were cut by modern ceramic land drains. The fill of one ditch contained unrotted wood and vegetation, implying a fairly recent date. Fragments of post-medieval roof tile, which had probably been deposited as a result of agricultural activity such as manuring, were recovered. [AIP] |
