Abstract: |
One ancient ditch was investigated. Although not closely dated, this feature may have been of Bronze Age or Iron Age date: two excavated segments produced 38 pieces of struck flint, predominantly from the upper fills. In addition to innumerable areas of modern disturbance, service-trenching and a trackway associated with construction of a temporary hutted barracks, several segments of backfilled and levelled 'zigzag' practice trench were identified. There were likely to be of First World Ware or inter-war date and could form part of a more extensive battlefield training complex. [Au(abr)] |
