Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a new sewer between Hackleton Pumping Station and Hackleton Sewage Works. Little of archaeological interest was observed and very few artefacts were noted. The finds were all of post-medieval date apart from four small and worn medieval sherds. With three exceptions all the features observed could be explained by the removal of a field boundary and the recent (1970s) dredging and straightening of the adjacent stream. The exceptions consisted of two undated shallow gullies and an animal (pet) burial of late 17th or later date. [Au(abr)] |
