Abstract: |
A desk-based assessement, supported by preliminary field survey, of land proposed for reclamation works on a site of workings associated with the former mine of North Briggan was undertaken. Only a small number of structures were ever located on the site and extant remains identified included the route of the Poldice Plateway (a horse-drawn mineral tramway); a drainage culvert under the railway; a number of spoil dumps; a quarry known to have been worked since at least 1876; and a possible buiding platform. At least nine shafts could be identified from map and documentary sources although all were found to have been infilled with modern refuse. [AIP] |
