Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out at the development site of a religious meeting-house, 150m east of the previously-excavated Crofton Roman Villa. Two substantial ditches containing fragments of Roman tile and some potsherds were found. A pit containing an animal skeleton was observed, and a large feature containing a compact mass of flint and Roman tile was also found. It was concluded that the features were typical of those generally found within the environs of a major villa. Further excavation and a watching brief were recommended.[AIP] |
