Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of two trial trenches, was undertaken in response to a planning condition. The site lay 0.25km to the north-east of St. John's Hunting Lodge, a medieval royal building occupied until the mid 16th century. A small number of finds were found within the topsoil - struck flints (11), abraded prehistoric and Roman pottery sherds (4), a burnt flint, and fragments of slag (1) and post-medieval tile (4). No archaeological features were identified, and the surface of the natural had been disturbed by ploughing. [Au(adp)] |
