Abstract: |
A two year programme of excavations and watching briefs during the demolition of Layerthorpe Bridge and the construction of two others was undertaken. The observations revealed extensive evidence for Roman and medieval activity, with the most notable discovery being that of a medieval timber trestle bridge. Extensive organic deposits were also located. [AIP] |
