Abstract: |
Two evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of a proposed residential development. They uncovered the remains of an 18th century cellar, a 14th century timber framed building and medieval pits, post holes and surfaces dated from the 12th-14th centuries. A total of 1621 artefacts were collected including animal bone, ceramic building material, a ceramic wig curler, a clay tobacco pipe, a flint artefact, glass, a leather shoe, metal objects, pottery, shell, slag and stone fragments.
