Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment showed that the archaeological potential for this area was moderate for the Iron Age period and high for the Roman period. Iron Age/Early Romano-British field systems were widespread in Cantley parish. It was adjacent to the Roman road and lay within an operating area of the Cantley pottery kilns, a major Roman industrial enterprise. However, the site was quarried for gravel in the 19th century and therefore it was unlikely that archaeological remains would have survived to any great extent. [Au(adp)] |
