Abstract: |
<summary>Desk-based assessment established that the area of a proposed commercial development contained the bank and ditch of the Roman town's defences and a possible extra-mural Roman roadside cemetery which overlay Middle Iron Age features. The Scheduled remains of Bury Mount medieval motte, including features associated with its construction and later re-use in the English Civil War, also lay within the proposed development area. A survey of earthworks on the proposed development site revealed these to be related to post-medieval water-management concerned with the feeding of ponds. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
