Abstract: |
The evaluation identified the presence of pits and a possible hearth, plus relatively large quantities of pottery retrieved from sealed contexts suggested the existence of a small medieval domestic site, perhaps a farmstead in the immediate vicinity. A relatively high number of humanly struck flints retrieved from the area east of Shepham Lane confirmed its use during the prehistoric period, however, as no contemporaneous features were found such activity appeared to be of a transitory nature. An assemblage of humanly struck flint recovered north of the A27 indicated a second area of prehistoric activity along the length of the proposed bypass. [Au(adp)] |
