Abstract: |
<summary>A sedimentological assessment of bore hole data was undertaken as part of an Environmental Assessment. This revealed the potential for recovering {italon}in situ{italoff} archaeological deposits of Upper Palaeolithic and early Mesolithic date. Structures such as revetments, fish traps, etc could also be present but probably would not be encountered by the piling operations. The [?lithological] sequence recovered demonstrated a conformable sequence of deposits of shallow marine and estuarine origin, and the excellent bore hole core quality preserved detailed sedimentary structures. Individual units associated with palaeolandsurfaces occurred in the sequence, which was considered to be of very great palaeoenvironmental importance. {italon}Au(abr){italoff} |
