Abstract: |
The watching brief involved a number of visits to observe a series of works to improve the appearance of the moated site and to aid in the conservation of the site which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The project involved the watching and safe guarding of the following activities: the removal of a dumped motor vehicle and metal tank from the moat, the construction of a self-binding footpath, the clearance of weeds and rubbish from the moat and tree/hedge pruning. A final visit to the site confirmed that no new features had been revealed during clearance work, though the existing ditches and embankments related to the monument were more clearly defined.
