Abstract: |
Porthmoina Mill was an early 19th century water-powered tin stamping and dressing site in excellent condition, being constructed of granite and on cliffs which had seen little subsequent use. The importance of the site was seen through its being a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Cornwall No. 712. Cornwall Archaeological Trust, in conjunction with English Heritage and The National Trust undertook repairs and recording due to the gradual collapse of the revetment wall holding back the site's spalling floor or plat. Prior to the repairs being undertaken the spalling floor was planned at 1:100 and the wall faces to be repaired had their elevations drawn to show the dispositon and shape of all stones. [AP] |
