Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation was undertaken in advance of a proposed mineral extraction and 13 trenches were excavated. These were located on areas that had previously been identified as having anomalies by a geophysical survey in 2003. Changes in the location of field boundaries was observed, as well as a linear feature, interpreted as a former boundary marker and a pair of subcircular features were interpreted as marking the former location of stone gateposts. A subcircular mound was also identified in the south-west corner of the area and excavation showed it to be of probable recent origin. No deposits of archaeological significance were identified within, or underlying the mound. [Au(adp)] |
