Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken as a planning condition prior to development. Twelve trial trenches were excavated, revealing ditches, pits and postholes mainly of Saxon date as well as evidence of Late Iron Age and possible Middle Iron Age activity. The discrete features were mainly located on the chalk subsoil close to the river on the west side of the site. The ditches had a broader distribution and may have been related to cropmark enclosures to the south of the evaluation area. [Au(adp)] |
