Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment found a high potential for prehistoric and some Romano-British archaeology within the area of proposed residential development, in relation to nearby cropmarks on Port Meadow, c.300 metres to the east of the site. There was a lower potential for archaeology of the early and later medieval periods. However, the geotechnical and geoenvironmental survey of the site recorded very thick modern made ground covering the majority of the site. Any construction work below the level of the modern made-ground would have had an impact on potential archaeology. [Au] |
