Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of six 1m square foundation pits for a store at a farm. The site lay at the centre of a series of cropmarks which represented enclosures and pit alignments, probably indicating later prehistoric or Romano-British settlement. Two sections had been cut through one of the ditches in 1963, and a variety of Romano-British and probable Late Iron Age artefacts had been recovered. During the watching brief, no significant archaeological features or deposits were observed, although two prehistoric worked flints were found. [Au(adp)] |
