Abstract: |
Little archaeological investigation had been carried out in this area prior to this evaluation. Evidence of 12th-13th century occupation was recorded in all three trenches that were excavated. This included pits [one with waterlogged remains] and a post hole. Charred barley grains suggested storage or brewing. It was possible that the area was laid to water meadow in the early post-medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
