Abstract: |
Three trial trenches dug as stage 2 of the project located a clay bund to the south-west of the New River Head pumping station that, on the basis of clay tobacco pipe and pottery, was deposited in the earlier 18th century. A timber water pipe was recorded, on a line from the pumping house towards the City of London. This pipe was probably also of 18th century date. [Au] |
