Abstract: |
Excavations on behalf of the RSPB recorded a causeway that had been built out of the remains of Bendall's factory and deposited on Lock Piece in the 1970s. Many of the ditches were backfilled by machine to accommodate the building of an airfield at the same time. A huge raft of building waste was tipped onto the saltings in the 1970s during the building of the estates in Lawford. No ancient remains were recovered due to the shallow nature of the excavations.
