Abstract: |
The site was to be developed as residential accommodation and associated car parking. This excavation and subsequent watching brief were carried out in response to these proposals. The excavation revealed some evidence for medieval occupation, but was mainly used for agriculture or gardens until the 17th century. The location of a flat-bottomed ditch with an L-shaped bend was confirmed, and was thought to be of a defensive nature, probably associated with the Civil War. [Au(abr)] |
