Abstract: |
During the course of the watching brief, three long and four short lengths of trench were excavated. Archaeological remains and features were found at a number of locations. A boundary shaft and a small tunnel or rising were located in Trench 2. Deep deposits of mine waste were located all around Trench 3. A further two tunnels along with a sunken area were found in Trench 5. Tunnels and walls were located in Trench 6, and a probable stone and timber constructed water way or lauder were discovered at the extreme end of Trench 3.[Au(abr)] |
