Abstract: |
Archaeological features and deposits were recorded in all of the excavated trial trenches. Phase one revealed three truncated linear ditches/gullies. These ditches were also truncated by later medieval ploughing. Pottery dating to the Late Bronze Age period was found in the fill of both ditches. Post holes were also recorded on the edges of these linear features, suggesting that a fence line may have once existed along their length. The watching brief on the edge of the car park area revealed a probable ditch in section. It was considered that this ditch could be continuation of the ditch recorded in phase two. [Au(abr)] |
