Abstract: |
Historical and archaeological background and nearby geotechnical results indicate a favourable position for prehistoric activity. There is no substantial evidence for Roman settlement in this area. Medieval, post-medieval, and Saxon occupation is know from documentary sources and has been confirmed by excavation nearby. It is recommended in the first instance that any necessary further archaeological investigation be mitigated for following the results of the archaeological monitoring of geotechnical site investigations.
