Abstract: |
Excavation of a site known from cropmarks and possibly associated with a nearby scheduled Roman villa revealed a rich range of features. An Iron Age ritual site seemed to pre-date a Roman site consisting of a small structure, possibly a mausoleum with an adolescent buried beneath. This was surrounded by a gully forming an enclosure dating from the 2nd or 3rd century. Several Anglo-Saxon burials were also revealed, dating from the 5th and 6th centuries. [AIP] |
