Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out at Pendennis Castle for English Heritage during repairs to the moat banks and the formation of a new footpath on the moat bank around the castle. The original, or previous, profile of the counterscarp was recorded when slumped material was cut back during repairs in the salient outside No. 5 Bastion (Pig's Pound). Two cast iron sockets for minefield alignment posts on the eastern moat bank were recorded. The works did not reveal any evidence of a palisade along the bottom of the moat or fraising on the rivetment. [Au(abr)] |
